In 2023, every continent had places that set a new record (pink) for the total number of days with temperatures above the 90th percentile (warmest 10 percent) of temperatures recorded from 1991-2020. Additional areas experienced their second-highest (orange) and third-highest highest (yellow) number of days with extreme heat.
