This video discusses how the historic way of life for Arctic Native Americans has changed. Global climate change is altering the ice cycle (yearly coverage, depth, and persistence) in the Bering Sea and weather patterns. Changes in the ice affect the way local native groups are able to hunt for food, and maintain their community.

This video is the third of a three part series. May be used alone or in a longer unit incorporating all videos. Teachers will need to augment the video with supporting information and activities for deeper learning. It would fit well as an introduction to the effects of climate change and sea ice loss in Arctic communities. Students could be called on to reflect on the experience of Arctic peoples as climate change continues and make connections to their own community's response to similar changes.
