Students learn about the water cycle and hydrology through a series of three lessons, two coloring book pages, and an e-Book. The themes covered in this resource tie into Climate Science and fundamental climate principles, as well as, engages students in scientific methods.

The book is useful in the integration of reading and science subjects. The activities provided teach skills, concepts, and the use of tools to assist in recording observation. The concepts and skills can be taught using a classroom setting and transferable to use in a natural surrounding. The story book addresses the water cycle, hydrology related to seasonal changes in rivers, and water quality. The three learning activities that are connected to this book/module are not overtly connected with Climate or Energy, but do address other scientific practices that are foundational to climate literacy. Students make and test predictions. Students learn the importance of using tools to enhance their observation skills and learn how instruments can enhance the details they are able to see. Students learn about the relationship between macroinvertebrates and aquatic environments and how studying the macroinvertebrates can provide information about water quality. Students learn about the interconnection between systems. Passed initial science review - expert science review pending.
Hands-on activities of measuring plants and other things in the classroom. If possible, a field trip to a pond (or other water body) is suggested. All lesson plans include extensions and adaptations for older and younger students. The activities are engaging activities for introducing measurement and observation skills.

The material is available in five other languages. This may allow for greater access to more children, as well as, inspire cohesion and collaboration in a multilingual classroom.
